Singapore Airlines introduces KrisFlyer 'Miles + Cash' airfares

Singapore Airlines will allow frequent flyers to mix miles and cash when it comes to paying for SQ or SilkAir tickets online from today.

A minimum of 5,000 KrisFlyer miles is needed as your points component – and the more miles you have, the less money you need to pay, although the ratio can be adjusted during the booking to favour points or cash.

The move also opens up the ability to book "any available seat on any available flight" and across all classes of travel, the airline says, rather than working with a limited number of seats held for redemption of KrisFlyer miles.

From next year, members will also be able to use KrisFlyer miles to cover the cost of fuel surcharges and taxes for redemption tickets, as well as other items such as preferred seats.
Singapore Airlines is also introducing Saver awards on all flights, including First and Business Class on Boeing 777-300ER flights, as well as Suites and Business Class on Airbus A380 flights.
