Technical glitch forces Finnair to return back Helsinki Airport

An Egypt bound flight of national flag carrier Finnair had to return to the Helsinki-Vantaa airport on Monday due to technical glitch just few minutes after take-off, Airport Traffic Control said.

Sources said that hydraulic failure was detected in the Hurghada bound Boeing-757 aircraft in the morning when it entered into the Estonia territory soon after its take-off from Helsinki airport.

Talking to STT, Finnair chief communication officer AkuVaramäki said that a hydraulic failure occurred in the plane and so it could not be controlled properly after landing at the airport.

The aircraft was towed from the runway and passengers were transported to the airport lounges by bus, said Varamäki, adding that the problem was repaired immediately.

The flight was later operated by another Finnair aircraft at 14:50 pm, after about five hours of the schedule flight.
